Over the past 100 years, we’ve built an unrivaled network of 44 offices in 30 countries. That investment is the foundation for White & Case’s client work in 180 countries today.
Many White & Case clients are multinational organisations with complex needs that require the involvement of multiple Firm offices. Lawyers who join our Firm find themselves part of an open, collegial culture where innovation, teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit are valued. From day one, our lawyers do intellectually challenging work on complex and innovative deals and matters with talented colleagues around the world.
We believe global exposure is an integral part of becoming a great lawyer, and our graduates and trainees are encouraged to take up international secondment opportunities, either as a part of their program, or early in their career.
“So far I’ve been to Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, and Seoul, and the transition is seamless”
Justin Chang, Associate, Melbourne
Our teams across Melbourne and Sydney work with clients in every state of Australia, and across the globe on a multitude of legal matters across the energy, infrastructure and mining & metals sectors. Seamless and successful collaboration across the offices allows White & Case to provide client services for the entire life cycle of our client’s projects. These services include environment and planning; project structuring; project development; project finance; corporate advice; M&A; litigation and arbitration.
Our Hong Kong team primarily focus on the emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific region, where many rules are still being made. These markets consist of sophisticated cross-border transactions and legal matters arising from the dynamic context and potential risk profile. At a glance, the key areas of work in our Hong Kong office are capital markets; investment funds; M&A and private equity, debt finance and dispute resolution.
We are proud that our people come from diverse backgrounds and cultures. There’s no typical White & Case lawyer, but we do look for high achievers with a strong academic record who want to be part of a dynamic global business.
Between us, we represent 110 nationalities and speak 87 languages, which is vital to our ability to effectively represent our diverse clients around the world. We attract people with a global mindset, who prioritise learning about different cultures, experiences, languages and viewpoints. By increasing the diversity of students and professionals at the Firm, we add to our enjoyable, supportive work environment and develop teams that provide the best solutions for our clients.
Globally we have 26 local women’s networks, as well as nine affinity networks. All employees, no matter where they are located, are invited to join any of our affinity networks, including as an ally. In Asia-Pacific, our offices host a number of events each year for employees and clients that support our Global Women’s Initiative and other global affinity networks such as Spectrum LGBT+.

Lawyers from every office and practice participate. Last year, we dedicated more than 146,000 hours to pro bono legal services. As soon as you join White & Case, you will have unparalleled opportunities to participate in cutting-edge pro bono work on the issues that matter to you—both locally and cross-border-with many of the world’s leading NGOs.
We offer a summer and winter vacation clerkship in our Melbourne office and a winter clerkship in our Sydney office. Regionally, we offer summer and winter internship opportunities in our Hong Kong office for law students with fluency in Mandarin and an interest in qualifying in Hong Kong.
You’ll be welcomed onto a team where you’ll be supervised and supported to work on tasks including drafting contracts and memoranda, researching, interpreting legislation and case law, preparing client alerts, document review and due diligence work. You will also attend client meetings and gain first-hand insight into how we help our clients achieve their goals.
Most importantly, the application, and recruitment process, is about getting to know you. It’s important that you be yourself and look for opportunities to show your personality, as well as your skills and talents. It’s also your chance to ask us questions and get to know the Firm.
As a truly global Firm, we provide our Graduates and Trainees with unique opportunities to work on international matters — both commercial and pro bono — with our large global network of offices. From day one, you will work on fast-paced cutting-edge and complex multijurisdictional projects, experiencing the operational realities of cross-border law.
You will gain client exposure early on, as you handle substantive matters with first-rate guidance and supervision from leaders in their field. To help develop a taste for global thinking, we encourage and support a six-month seat rotation in one of our overseas offices.
